YOUR VOICE NEEDED NOW ON KEY ISSUES – FERAL CATS Make a submission on the draft updated Threat Abatement Plan for predation by feral cats The Federal government is seeking feedback on the draft updated threat abatement plan for predation by feral cats. You can find their documents and consultation hub for you submission here. The closing date for feedback by 4.00pm AEDT on 11 December 2023. It is a very long document – however the Summary is only 3 pages long; lists 6 principles for implementation which we strongly support given they provide a very good framework and make the threat abatement plan evidence based. UBC looks forward to the adoption and implementation of this updated Threat Abatement Plan. We believe it is essential that there is greatly increased Australian Government funding, together with mandatory increased funding by State Governments and by Local Governments to manage this threat to our natural environment. It is essential for retention of our unique biodiversity across Australia and especially here in our South West WA biodiversity hotspot. Colma has a long history in the environment movement and has been a great supporter of UBC in all that time. Three years ago she joined the UBC committee and has put in an extraordinary effort and countless hours promoting and advocating for the issues we all care so much about. She has contributed to advocacy, has been vice chairperson and in 2023 has been both Memberships Officer and convenor of our very busy Submissions Working Group.
