Save our EPA – Protect WA Nature
Dear NRPG members and interested,
Just a reminder for this important issue! Let’s remind them that we won’t accept weakening of our already weak environmental laws and EPA.
For info, the new train (airport line) from High Wycombe station (Maida Vale) is a quick cheap way to get to City West, where it is a short walk up to Parliament.
Kind regards,
Steve Gates
Save our EPA – Protect WA Nature
The Cook Labor government has announced plans that will undermine WA’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA)
Dear Steve Caving into pressure from industry groups, and with no community consultation, the Cook Labor government has announced plans that will undermine WA’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). This is in addition to the Government’s recent, preemptive decision to hand Alcoa an exemption order which will allow them to keep clearing Jarrah forests, even whilst the EPA assesses their plans. We know that it is impossible to regrow these ancient, highly biodiverse forests after clearing and mining. Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever. We need to advocate now for stronger environmental assessment processes, and the right to be informed, participate in, and challenge decisions about our precious environment. On the first sitting day of 2024, please join us as groups and individuals from across the state rally on the steps of Parliament for better protections for our EPA and WA’s nature. To protect the living systems on which we all depend, we need our EPA to be rigorous, science-based, independent and consultative. Thank you for all you do for the environment,Jess Jess Boyce Acting Director | WA Forest Alliance We acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional owners of the southwest forests across the Noongar/Bibbulmun nation.
