I acknowledge the Whadjuk people, the traditional and rightful custodians of the land upon which I live, work and play. I recognise their strength and resilience and pay my respects to all Aboriginal elders past and present.
Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.

Dear NRPG members and interested,

There are a number of mining expansion applications being made in our Northern Jarrah forests from Toodyay to Bunbury.

Mining is even more destructive than logging, because the land is totally cleared before the ore is blasted and removed. Unfortunately regeneration efforts are nowhere near a replacement for the original diversity of the plants and creatures which make up the forest ecology. More details in the “A Thousand Cuts…” report at: https://wafa.org.au/get-informed/

The WA Forest Alliance urges us to make a submission and has a ‘guide’ to help:

South32’s proposal to clear another 4,399 ha of forest and woodland habitat for bauxite mining is before the EPA.

It is absolutely critical that the EPA hears from people who are concerned about the protection of the Northern Jarrah Forest during this Public Environmental Review period. Submissions are due by the 29th of August.

WAFA has put together two guides in collaboration with other groups to assist people in making submissions:

I live and work on Menang Boodja and the forests I’m dedicated to protecting are throughout Noongar / Bibbulmun Country. I pay respects to Traditional Owners and their ongoing connection to Country: its lands, waters, plants, animals and spirit. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
