Clean Industry Here We Come!

By Steve Gates

Dear NRPG members and interested,

Some encouraging news from the Climate Council of Australia,

With the evidence of Climate Change happening now and evident with our forests dying, corals bleaching, and our drying climate in the SW WA, we need to make changes as fast as possible.:

Kind regards,

Steve Gates

Things are looking up for climate action in Australia!

Yesterday Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the Future Made in Australia Act (1) to revitalise Australian manufacturing by making more things here with clean energy.

While we don’t yet have all the details, this Act sends exactly the kind of leadership signals we need from the Australian Government to slash climate pollution, create good clean jobs, and ensure a brighter future for our kids.  The world is already moving to cut climate pollution, with the United States, Japan, the European Union and more taking big strides to repower their industries with clean energy. Now is Australia’s chance to seize the decade and make the most of our abundant clean energy resources and deep manufacturing know-how.

This Act could help take Australia into the 21st century by diversifying into sectors like clean manufacturing and critical minerals for a thriving, prosperous and modern economy, and most importantly – a safe climate. This is an important step to build on the momentum that’s already underway. Already, over 40% of the energy in our main national grid comes from renewables (2), but we need to be doing a hell of a lot more to protect our kids from climate change. We will be looking closely at the details of the Act, and will be pushing to ensure everything in it helps Australia seize this decade to cut climate pollution further and faster.

Our latest report, Seize the Decade, spells out exactly how we can build a clean economy to power our lives, set up Aussie communities and our kids for success, and end climate pollution. Now, we need to make sure this Act helps deliver on our recommendations and gets us to where we need to be for a safe climate future and prosperous clean economy.

If you missed our Seize the Decade webinar last night, watch the recording now to hear directly from our experts and learn all about what we envisage for Australia’s clean industry future.

This Act could be such a huge part of tackling the climate crisis and we are so pleased to share this positive news with you!

With hope,
