Hello
We are doing a call out for anyone who can comment on a proposal by a developer that would like to see urban development in the Perth Hills. You might have already heard of the Save the Perth Hills campaign. This is a group who has been fighting against the North Stoneville development which would destroy 160ha of bushland and thousands of mature trees, which is habitat for the Black Cockatoo. Not only does the development pose a risk to our native fauna, it is also unsafe in regards to bushfire and could put people’s lives at risk. The newest application for this development is currently with the EPBC (federal government), and they need to hear from us whether we want it to be a controlled action (which it should be). You can add your voice by doing the following (it will only take a few minutes): The following link will take you to the EPBC portal.  Here you will be able to press a blue button saying “Make a comment“. You can provide a title for your comment, for example: “Save the Perth Hills” or “Save the Black Cockatoo”.

We want this to be a ‘Controlled Action‘ (press yes for this question”. If the government decides it is a controlled action, the application could be denied or at least there will be mitigating processes to ensure that habitat trees are retained. That is pretty much it, if you want it to be confidential you can indicate that on this page as well.

Thank you for your help, it is important to show strength in numbers and voice our concerns with processes that damage our environment. Best wishes,  Dr Sam Rycken
