I’m sending all of you a reminder that on the next Busy Bee session at the Upper Lesmurdie Falls this Sunday, at 8am we’ll be meeting up at the usual spot at the gravel Weir Car Park, when our sole activity will likely be getting loads of native plants and trees into the ground, planting out as many as possible of those we have raised over the last 12 months, for a couple of hours before tucking into some lovely nosh, when we can all sit around and chat if we like.
Our assessment is that we are lucky to have had enough rain during this week to make the ground moist for successful planting, and there are great advantages in getting as much of our planting completed soon so that the plants get established before the drier, hotter weather sets in. So, we’re hoping to get lots of volunteers turning up by 8 on Sunday to achieve our target for the day. So, please join us this Sunday.
We could get a touch of rain on Sunday morning , so you could bring appropriate clothing with you that allows for that possibility, but the worst of the weather will be happening in the evening, so we’ll miss that. Planting will be easy as we intend to use augers to pre-drill most of the holes – probably on Friday and Saturday. If you’re coming to join us, then you could also bring along some gloves and a trowel if you have one, but we will have some for those who don’t.
The more people that turn up to this session, the more plants we can put into the ground, so we’re very much looking forward to seeing you there.
